The city of love

ah, what a beautiful day it is in lil ole paris!
I have been meaning to blog outfits instead of new releases, but really had no inspiration until now. I watched the movie 'While she was out' and although that is not exactly the happiest movie.. It did inspire me to go out! Even if it was just on Sl.. Paris is so beautiful under these lighting settings *sighs contently*
Oh, alright, alright. I'll confess. Maybe I didn't actually go to paris.. But I did go to trilogy which is just as breathtaking.

Like I was saying earlier, I've constructed a outfit based entirely off of older items i've had in my inventory. You'll find I do this a lot.. The whole throw on things at random, be inspired by one thing or another and construct a whole outfit out of it. In my opinion, it always turns out nicely. Well, what are you waiting for?! Go be inspired! Maybe you'll even find a little of your own amour in the city of love :)

Furniture Spotlight on *Phi*

Sephia Ellison is the Owner of Phi. A trendy new fashion furniture spot. I came upon it today, and I simply couldn't say no! I ended up buying practically the whole store and had a chance to talk to Sephia in person. The main store is brand new. It opened it's door on Saturday, July 11th. I came across the name from someone who mentioned it in 'Fashion Emergency' and I can not begin to explain how happy I was to get that landmark..
Sephia has cute, chiq, trendy and very girly items.
From vanity desks, to bedroom sets. From electric keyboards to talking twilight sega books!
Sephia has it all to add to your second life home.. I've picked some of my favorites to showcase to you all.
*Drum roll * Introducing Phi by Sephia Ellison...

*Special thanks to the beautiful Amor Nyoki for helping me model *

Summer is here!

I'm on a SL diet. Yes, I know what you're thinking 'Um, Malika.. your avatar doesn't have to eat..' That statement would make you half right, and half wrong. What I feed is not my avies tummy, but my avies pocket supply. I went through how much lindens i've spent in the past 4 weeks and let's just say.. It wasn't pretty. So, I decided i'll cut back for the next week and not spend a linden! Well, that plan lasted about a hour until I tped into Vive9. A skin store that is new to me. As you can guess, My 'diet' didn't last very long.. (Do they ever?!)
Vive9's newest release is Summer. I bought a demo, and I instantly fell in love..
The fat pack was only $L2,500! They also have a SALE going on for other skins at a meer $1,000 per fatpack! You can't beat that! All of the skins are lovely, but I still think summer is my favorite. I absolutely love the soft face, the pouty gloss in the lips, and of course the enhanced collar bone.. It just looks so flawless! Summer comes in 8 fabulous makeup colors, that are (Obviously) perfect for the summer! ^^

and the winner is..

Yesterday was the final catwalk for Absolut Modeling Agencys' Beauty Contest. It's been going on for about a month, from interviews to a 3 part intense fashion show, to the final catwalk.
People were eliminated after every task (Male and Female) and last night we took our heels down the runway one last time to see who would be Absoluts next top model.. *Dun dun dun*
Our task was to create a outfit based upon the clothes they provided for us. (Accessorize, Pair, Match, etc) Only I didn't figure that out until an hour before the show.. (Mayra the owner speaks very little English, so it was hard to understand what she wanted) I initially was thinking 'Oh snap, I'll have to go all black, formal, take it safe' but as I whipped together a outfit.. I thought 'Wow, this really sucks.. It's so boring!' So I instantly rummaged through my inventory to go the complete opposite of my initial thinking and to go bright. I had been inspired by one of truths newest releases Leah. With a colorful scripted flower in the hair. So I based colors around that. (As you can sort of see above) I choose to wear the black shorts provided, and mix and match crazy colors.

Anyways, i'm rambling. I ended up winning first place! and was rewarded instantly with a tiara, (what looks like a oscar) gold trophy, and a red cape! (Yes, I do wear it to save the world)
Of course I won the other amazing prizes including L$2,000, A contract with Absolut Modeling Agency, a full modeling book (10 photos), A free modeling course, A photoshoot to Absolut Modeling Agency Magazine, as well a photoshoot to appear in Life2live blog! Pretty sweet huh? :)

Luths' Cell Block Poses

Ahh, I've been tinkering around with my photo editing skills. Using on-web programs only.
No photoshop here. So, when I was looking through some of my favorite poses by luth, I came across the cell block posing jail cell which I had completely forgot about!

I figured it was a perfect time to play with my editing skills as well as show off a pretty awesome posing set. My outfit was completely inspired by the cell as I threw together an outfit.

Shit Luck has the sexiest pair of suspenders on the grid, and i've always wanted to take a shoot with just the suspenders on.. It's so sexy!
I do believe i'm one of the hottest jailbirds in Sl don't you think?
I wonder what my crime was?
Murder? Theft? Kidnapping?
Or maybe it's just a classic case of the fashion police trying to drag me down..
No, that can't be it.. Because my outfit is awesome! :)
Either way, I really like luths poses, So if you haven't been there.. Check out them ASAP.

Absolut Modeling Comp. Finals!

So, I haven't been posting for a while.. Why? Because I've been extremely busy with RL and SL.
Tomorrow is the final runway to determine winners for absolut models.. I'm in the finals, but I have no idea what the task is even to do! Mayra is the leader, and her as well as a good potion of the contestants speak Portuguese.. me not included. So, when we were given our tasks I had no idea what she said, and I'm still pretty clueless.. only it ends tomorrow! Bleh, I hope I figure it out.
Come watch me fail tomorrow. But hopefully thanks to everyone else your in for a treat, as the final catwalk determines our fate. Hope you'll join me!

No H8

Special thanks to Xcite Frequency for helping me model ;)
"On November 4th, 2008 Proposition 8 passed, amending the state Constitution to ban same-sex marriage.

In the wake of the defeat, there has been a groundswell of initiative from within the community at grassroots level. Seizing this opportunity, new political and protest organizatitions are forming almost daily. The NOH8 Campaign is a photo project & silent protest created by celebrity photographer Adam Bouska and partner Jeff Parshley in direct reponse to the passage of Proposition 8.

The campaign started with portraits of everyday Californians who support Marriage Equality and soon rose to celebrities, military personnel, brothers & sisters, law enforcement, lesbian mothers, directors, politicians, newlyweds, and more, Photos feature subjects with duct tape over their mouths symbolizing their voices not being heard and NOH8 painted on one cheek in protest. "

(from the NO H8 campaign website, www.noh8campaign.com)

Thanks to Francois Ghost for bringing light to this to us SLers.

Help support the cause, post your 'NO H8' pictures and spread the word.

Trashy Fashy

Who said you can't wear recycled newspaper for a dress or soda pop cans as curlers?
Being trashy doesn't have to be.. well, trashy! I thought I'd show you my two favorite 'Trashy' items right now.

The first, of course is Lelutkas' Clipping Dress.

A sexy chiq artisy dress, that I absolutely adore!

The paint splatters come in different colors,

But my favorite is the very bright pink, green, orange, and yellows.

The great thing about this dress is when you use the restroom,

You can just have a looksey on your lap for the morning news.

Convenient huh?!

In all seriousness though, This dress is gorgeous, and you should buy it.

And wear it. And read it. And then when you're done with it, Recycle it.

The second was a favorite at this years Hair Fair. Tiny Birds' Gattina Hair is just to fabulous for words. Soda pop cans tied in like curlers. I swear, they aren't beer cans.
This is a family blog everyone, behave yourselves.
Anyways, it's glamorous and fabulous and stunning and all of the awesome words you would use to describe other awesome, glamorous, fabulous, and stunning things... yah...
I paired this outfit with the brand spanking new Rockberry Uma Skin with Tintable Lips!
I love the face on it, it's to gorgeous to explain further and the skins are really cheap too!

Now, that I've become trashy, Join me!

CoCo Spangles

Do a body good

If there's one thing i'm picky on, it's my shape.
I have a very distinct look i'm after, which I don't find in a lot of shapes.
Knowing that fact, I rarely ever switch out of my Juicy Coral Shape which i've grown to love.
But, today I took a trip to KA to grab the newest 'Casey Skin'
It's a different type of skin that i'm used to wearing, to me it has a sort of ethnic spice to it.
The face is very smooth and innocent, with gorgeous makeup tones to match.
KA skins are a bit pricey at $L4,999 linden for a fat pack of 7.
But designer, Kira Ahn makes it worth the linden.
With a light/dark eyebrow set, as well as a superb product and quality of the skin.
I would definitely say it's worth the linden.

Anyways, like I was saying. I stopped by KA, and after I bought the Casey Skin, I headed next door to my favorite shape place - Juicy - Where I saw one of her newest shapes on display - Casey - That was made for the new casey skin by KA. I couldn't resist, and decided to buy it and venture forth my fear of changing my favorite juicy shape.
The fact is, I loved it! She was a bit taller, and hippier then my usual, but I have to say - The shape is great. What else would I expect from Juicy?

I was on a roll, and headed down to Maitreya to check out the new hair releases.
I came across one of the newest hairs - Moon - and fell in love.
Soft curls, and a kind of a elegant hippy pony tail in back. It was stunning, casual, and so perfect.
So, my look has got a complete revamp today, even if it's just for the day.
Head down and get a style change as well.
It was worth it, Don't you think?

Bliss Couture Limited Edition Gowns

With gowns, as well as any other item in SL, if they are LE or One of a kind, people want it - and they want it because only limited amount of people will be able to say they have it.
We won't have to worry about going to any balls and have to compete for our prince in the same dress. Why? because it's limited edition.
Sure, it's like one big popularity contest. But, I have to admit I myself have fallen into the crazy.
Bliss Couture - one of my favorite stores for dresses, has specials up to get 'Limited Edition' dresses. I stopped by this week after a group notice about the new Cinderella's Lost Slipper Hunt. With nothing better to do, I tped into BC. The first thing I noticed was the huge display boards directly ahead when you tp in. I wandered, and after a bit time of rezzing came upon the Limited Edition Dresses. Most, sold out. But as I had a look around, some with over 10 dresses left, I found one - 'Leona Dress' with only one dress left. I couldn't resist. It was punky, cute, and most importantly, it was the last one left. How could I refuse? I instantly bought it, and when I tried it on, I was happy I did. It gives a edge to the normal ball gown, and gave myself a sense of accomplishment that I had the last ever copy of the dress. Yes, I know. It's horrible, but so true!
If you haven't invested in some LE dresses, I'd reccomend it. They are something special you can add to your inventory and know that not that many people have it.

BAC Lingerie

Lingerie. A hard topic to discuss. Why? Because there's a common misconception that lingerie is tagged with being trashy, slutty, tacky, and cheap.
Which, although might be true in some cases, isn't always the case.
Lingerie is a must for any fashionistas inventory.
So how can you tell the difference between tacky and classy?
Well, I'll leave that up to you to decide.
But, I did happen to be roaming through my inventory when I came across a few staple lingerie items from Beauty Avatar Couture.

They do a wonderful job of separating sexy, innocent, sweet, and chiq from grungy, tacky, trashy and slutty.
Here are two wonderful examples of two very different styles of lingerie.
The first: A more sexy, romantic type feel, complete with stockings and garters. The lace makes this one still very feminine, but can drive your man wild when he sees you in it.
The second: A more old fashioned, slightly less exposing choice. But the teasing see through is perfect for that 'Tease' look.
Both are very sexy, but fail to fall under any 'Tacky' label.

April Showers!

Now, if you ever see me in world, chances are good I will be wearing a LAQ skin.
I jump at every opportunity to get a fat pack of owner, Mallory Cowen's skins.
This week, she released the brand new 'April' skin. Which is adorable!
The pack only included red eyebrows, but thanks to Uma, we all can enjoy brunette eyebrows too!
The pack comes in ten, yes ten beautiful makeup colors for less then $L2,000!

Paper Coture

Now, everyone knows PC has been a long time favorite within the fashion community.
I on the other hand never quite got the whole PC fad..
I had tped in and immediately thought 'Wow, this is so not my style.'
Then, I would see flashes of all these amazing pieces of clothing, and they all came from PC.
I was stunned really, because at first glance I saw old people retirement home.
So when I tped back in, I was astonished to find high fashion couture..
The items are a bit pricey, but for the quality of items you get with a PC item, it's almost far less then they should charge.
Now, my inventory is happy with a bunch of PC items.
So, for the love of PC, I will showcase two of my favorite items.
The first is the item that made me drop everything and head directly to PC.
The in like a lion dress simply caught my eye.
But for me, the choice to take away the bottom skirt was a easy one.
The top iteslef is so perfect, flowery like petals in a vintage aged color.
It took my breath away.
The second, what I think of when I think of PC. Lot's of fabrics, and gorgeous sculpties.

Hello, world!

I'm Malika Marville.
I've decided to start my very own fashion blog.
Now, I know there's a lot of these out there,
and to be honest.. a lot of them suck.
So it's my oath to make sure I make my blog.. Not suck.

I'm just getting started so don't judge my blogging skills to harshly now.

I thought I would showcase one of my favorite dresses right now.
So, without going into big long introductions, I will keep my bio short and simple.
Like I said, I'm Malika Marville.
A complete and total fashion and shopping addict.
I'm trying to get into the world of modeling, working with some very fun photographers.
If you haven't heard of me, hopefully you will soon.

Just a few more tid bits about what i'll be doing here:
I will be showcasing my favorite outfits, new or old, updating regulary.
One thing I will be sure to do is include slurls to get these items in the picture,
I hate having to look around after seeing something I find in a blog, so hopefully taking the extra effort to post the slurl attachted to the store will help people hate me less (:
